Recurrence Symptoms

New or returning findings

Not every new symptom means recurrence, but knowing warning signs for the area you were treated for matters. Do not wait for a routine visit if something new appears.

Early contact often allows a calmer evaluation — communication instead of panic.

  • General warnings

    Unexplained weight loss, night sweats, persistent fatigue, poor appetite, or new pain — especially beyond a few weeks — should be reported to your team.

  • After colon / rectal treatment
    Tap for details

    Blood in stool, persistent diarrhea or constipation change, abdominal pain, narrower stools, new abdominal mass sensation. With a stoma: bleeding or abscess unlike your usual pattern.

  • After breast treatment

    New lump in breast or axilla, skin dimpling, nipple discharge, persistent cough, or bone pain (especially worse at night).

  • When to go to ER

    NoteDo not postpone reporting a new symptom until the next scheduled visit.

    Fever, severe pain, obstruction signs (vomiting, no gas/stool), fainting, or shortness of breath — emergency care first.
