Not a treatment recommendation. Experimental or ongoing research does not by itself replace standard care.
For patients
What is being studied? If the tumor disappears after intensive treatment for rectal cancer, close observation instead of surgery may be discussed for some patients.
Why promising? Systematically tested organ preservation after TNT in selected patients.
What is not proven? Identical NOM protocol in every center; do not confuse with dMMR IO strategy.
Is this standard care today? This listing alone does not replace standard care; approval and guideline context require clinician judgment.
For clinicians
JCO OPRA; NOM selection and surveillance intensity are critical. Cross-link to rectum landmark atlas later.
Cancer / population: Rectum — Lokal ileri rektum adenokarsinomu
Intervention: TNT → cCR’de watch-and-wait
Primary endpoint: 3y DFS / organ koruma (protokol)
Limitations: Merkez deneyimi bağımlı; IO-NOM ile karıştırılmamalı.
