Appendicitis — Why Pathology Matters

Every removed appendix is examined

The resected appendix must go to pathology. Sometimes appendicitis is caused by a tumor; missing histology can delay correct treatment. The report guides whether further surgery, imaging, or oncology follow-up is needed.
