Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, colectomy, permanent stoma, and ileal pouch

IBD surgery is not failure — in selected patients it is the best control pathway.

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are usually controlled with medicines. In selected patients, surgery resolves complications, reduces drug burden, or manages dysplasia / cancer risk. This hub is separate from diverticular disease and from the stoma living guide (pouch and skin skills). Perianal Crohn's fistula care remains linked from the anal fistula hub.
