Oncology landmark studies

Scientific Studies Atlas

This hub gathers selected landmark clinical studies that shaped cancer treatment, organized by disease category. Patient-friendly summaries and the gold-star (paradigm-changing) classification are editorially approved; numeric study cards are kept in each disease atlas. Survival and follow-up times use the median, not the mean.

176 unique landmark records

Treatment-changing discoveries · 47

Gold-star studies: 47. This count covers the main oncology atlas together with approved breast and thyroid studies. The main oncology subset has 39 stars.

  • Scientific accuracy — links to primary publications
  • Comparative atlas — no implied superiority
  • Clinical position — stage and endpoints kept separate
  • Patient language — complex results in plain terms

Counts shown come live from the registry; example numbers in design drafts are not data.

Endpoints such as DFS, OS, pCR, and cCR are not interchangeable. Gold stars are never assigned automatically. No study cards are generated for empty categories. A patient summary is not a treatment recommendation.

Discoveries That Changed Cancer Treatment

How patients were treated before, what the research showed, and what changed today — read 47 gold-star discoveries without needing to know the study name. This count covers the main oncology atlas together with approved breast and thyroid studies (main oncology subset: 39). Includes “per 100 patients” figures and “what did it not prove?” fields.

Featured studies

Only studies that have a real card on this site are listed.

Central study index

176 records. Full numeric cards are on each atlas page; no placeholder results for empty categories.

Evidence-based medicine

Results are linked to primary publications and DOIs.

Comparative atlas

No indirect superiority claims across different stages or designs.

Current clinical position

Endpoints (OS/DFS/PFS) are never used interchangeably.

Patient-friendly explanation

Every card has a separate patient-message field.

Conclusion

Every study was designed for a specific patient group, treatment arm, and primary endpoint. Results should not be automatically generalized to other diseases or to all patients.
